Our service capabilities in the cable installation process are invaluable long before the actual installation begins.

Once engaged, Crofton Industries will perform a thorough survey of the proposed installation site to include the hydrographic nature of the site, substrate composition, the environmental impact of the installation, and the location of any existing utilities in the area. All existing utilities will be marked for future reference and planning purposes.

At the same, time our permit acquisition team will be hard at work contacting adjacent property owners and all involved federal state and local agencies necessary to obtain an approved permit to install your cable.

With the survey complete and the permits in hand, our design team develops the installation plan derived from the site survey and customer requirements.

Crews then go to work selecting and mobilizing equipment based on these project plans and design specifications. For below sub-grade installations our crews can select from any number of specialized deep embedment plows designed to meet any customer cable depth requirement. Plows can also be custom designed and fabricated right at our own facility, ensuring a high quality product that keeps costs reasonable.

The culmination of these previous phases is marked by the beginning of the installation phase of the project. The cable installation barge is pushed into place and the crew is briefed and ready for the installation. Conveying the cable from the shoreline terminal structure to the underwater trench is the first step and can be accomplished by directional boring in conduit or direct burial with or without conduit. In the directional boring method, the cable enters the conduit on shore and exits underwater.

Upon reaching the underwater environment, the cable can be laid directly on the substrate or trenched to a specified depth within the substrate depending on the installation requirements.

The installation will be complete following the submittal of your installation report which will consist of geo referenced as built drawings that will include the exact electronic locations of your cable for future location and maintenance.
